Diabetes Can Be Beaten!

Let me tell you a story...

For a few years I had pre-diabetes.

What is pre-diabetes, you wonder.

Pre-diabetes is when blood sugar jumps between high and low, right after when you eat.

Like a yo yo, a roller coaster, maddening, like life.

The condition called "pre-diabetes" leads to diabetes type II unless you reduce sugar and stress...the normal life of an American.

I thought diabetes would only happen to someone else, not me.I thought I was safe on the borderline until one night I went to the emergency room with a urinary tract infection. That's already a sign of diabetes, as bacteria thrive on an overload of sugar in the urine. A blood test showed my blood sugar level was 387. Normal is about 100.That means I had diabetes.

I shed 25 pounds just prior to my diagnosis of diabetes. I thought it was the easy way to lose weight and even felt a hesitation to get it under control. Pitiful.

Diabetes type II has been part of my life for 3 years. I control my blood sugar with insulin shorts and meds.

Living the life of a diabetic is not fun. It's a waste of time and money getting prescriptions, filling them, giving myself shots, taking meds and all the daily crap.

It's a lot to worry about. what I eat, when and how to exercise... not a pleasant life

I need to adhere to a diet and exercise regularly.

The most significant lifestyle change I've made is to get up and do for myself, rather than asking my grand kids to "fetch" stuff for me. It was difficult, but the difference it made was worth it.

The purpose of this diabetes site is to provide honest and valuable information while it gives me a daily reminder to stay on track. It is so easy for me to trail off and eat too much and skip exercise. I have been a pro at giving excuses and shirking responsibility.

I could live a long life...on dialysis... with a walker ...with amputations or a life of health and vitality. If I take responsibility NOW I can have the latter!

I am committed to journal my road to health. Will you come with me? Click below to read more...
